Lee Thomassen,

Lee is the Director of Health Operations for Princess Cruises. In this role, he oversees all business and administrative aspects of the Company’s medical and public health functions. Princess employs nearly 250 doctors, nurses, and paramedics, and operates 21 internationally accredited shipboard medical centers. Lee collaborates with the Company’s Chief Medical Officer to create and implement departmental operating plans, budgets, compensation programs, clinical governance objectives, international supplier agreements, recruiting policies, and shoreside management development initiatives. Lee also assists medical leaders across other Carnival Group brands with the implementation of enterprise-level health administration priorities such as the adoption of a common EHR platform.

Lee’s previous professional experience includes 15+ years leading the daily operations of privately held service firms. He was President of a $15 million firm providing pre-employment screening to health care organizations, President and Chief Operating Officer of a start-up company offering data backup and recovery services, and Chief Operating Officer and General Manager of a $50 million consumer marketing company. Lee has also been engaged as a strategic and operational advisor by small and mid-sized organizations including medical group practices.

Lee received an MBA and a BA in Sociology from Georgia State University. He later completed graduate-level Management Information Systems coursework at Iowa State University. In 2010, Lee earned a Healthcare Leadership and Management Certificate at UCLA. Most recently, he graduated from UCLA’s Fielding School of Public Health in 2012 with an MPH in Health Policy and Management.
